The squad this year was again quite low in numbers and had several relatively inexperienced players in it. In view of this our end of season Shires League placing of 6th out of 8 is probably what might have been expected. However the one won match and one drawn match were accompanied by two very close lost matches of 9 games to 11. One more game in both of these matches could have resulted in a much higher final position in the league.

A team was entered into the Under-15 Team Challenge in November and finished 4th out of 6.

Suffolk hosted the Under-14 Eastern Region tournament in January and the team playing in that came 3rd out of 7.

The season was rounded off with the Eastern Region Single Sex tournament in Norwich in April. Two girls teams and two boys teams played there with the girls A team coming away with silver medals.

The squad training sessions held at King Edwards School in Bury St Edmunds were well attended and home matches held at Sudbury Sports Centre were well supported.

As well as myself the squad was coached and managed by Yvonne Pears, John White and Pauline Tarbit and I would like to thank all of them for their hard work throughout the year.

I would also like to thank the parents of the squad members for their cooperation and support and the players themselves for their efforts and sportsmanship both on and off the court. It has been a pleasure to see the progress made by many individuals and I would like to wish those of them moving through to the next age group squad all the best in their future badminton endeavours.
