Report to AGM  May 2018

Although we did not win any matches this year, several of the younger players gained some useful experience which I hope will benefit next year’s teams - of the 22 squad members, 17 will still be in the under-14 age group for at least one more season.  Together with players invited to ‘one-off’ sessions and some potential new recruits, I hope to have a minimum of 14 boys and 10 girls to invite to the summer training sessions, which will consist of a friendly against Hertfordshire  and a training sessions, together with the usual age group tournament, all of which will take place in June.

The downside of having a young squad this year is that there were very few players to be referred to the under-16 squad for summer trials - only one girl and four boys from the squad together with two invitees.  However the squad managers continue to liaise in order to put out teams with younger players playing in a higher age group where appropriate.

The final training session for the season was held on 24th March, and ran alongside the match against Surrey First Team which had been re-arranged from December because of postponement due to snow.  Unfortunately the Surrey team was a player short, and had a very difficult journey because of an accident near the Dartford crossing.  It turned out to be a challenging afternoon to organise.  However we were able to present the Singles Ladder trophies - Chloe Dennis was a convincing winner of the fourth consecutive year, and Rylee Hoang won for the first time after a close play-off against Zheng Chok

A big thank you to all the squad coaches - Glenn Tooke, Louise Tooke, Darryl Morgan - and to my assistant manager Terry Leeks.  My thanks also to Tony Bristow for his continued help and interest, to parents for their support, to Ben Williams and Janet Dennis for coaching at matches and to Adrian Cook and Ben for assistance with coaching at training sessions.
