Suffolk round of the National Badminton Junior League 2018
The Suffolk round of the National Junior League (NJL) will take place at the Skyliner Sports Centre, Bury St Edmunds (from 10:00 until 17:00 on the following dates:
U12 March 4th 2018;
U14 January 21st 2018;
U16 February 11th 2018.
The National Junior League is designed to provide starter, developing and recreational players with the opportunity to gain additional competition experience. The NJL supports players’ development, enable them to gain competitive experience and starts their competition pathway by gaining Badminton England competition grading points.
The Suffolk Junior League is signed up to the Badminton England National Junior League structure with the combined aim of giving as many young people the opportunity to play organised, competitive badminton on a regular basis. We hope that through participating in our Junior League your school or club’s young players will have a fun and valuable experience, whilst continuing to develop their skills.

How to enter a team
The junior league is £20 for a team to enter and this must be paid prior to attending.
Age Entry criteria for teams:
Most young players will not have a grade, but they still qualify and are encouraged to play as an ungraded player.
Teams entering players that are already graded by Badminton England must ensure players who are graded at the start of the season are:
How the Suffolk Junior League competition works
All matches will be played on the allocated day.
Mixed teams consisting of a minimum of 2 girls and 2 boys.
There will be 5 events in each match consisting of: Boys singles, Girls singles, Boys doubles, Girls doubles and Mixed doubles.
Each event is the best of 3 games to 9 points.
We will advise you nearer the date of the number of matches expected for your team.
What to bring/expect on the day
The Skyliner Sports Centre does not have a cafeteria, therefore, we would advise competitors to bring their own lunch and plenty of fluids to keep you hydrated throughout the day.
Suffolk Badminton Association cannot accept responsibility for the transport of players to and from the tournament. We will be at the sports centre 15 minutes before the start time and will ensure that a responsible adult remains at the hall until 17:00 on the day should the tournament finish early.
